Physical activities for the development of psychomotor skills of high school students at the José Joaquín de Olmedo School

Abstract

Psychomotor skills represent that area of knowledge that studies according to Mendieta et al. (2017, p. 7) the interaction between knowledge, emotion, and movements in childhood. It was considered important to investigate the teaching intervention with the objective of developing psychomotor skills in students aged 4 to 5 years through physical activities that promote balance, coordination, muscle strength and body perception. In the present investigation, a test was applied with activities that collected the previously specified areas in a period of 2 months, thanks to its quantitative nature, it was achieved that the population at a motor level knew more about their body and its capabilities, to develop their coordination. and agility, at a cognitive level it was possible to improve concentration and recognize special notions such as walking sideways, jumping, interacting with objects, and at a social and emotional level it was possible to release impulsivity, play with others, and reaffirm the sense of companionship. Finally, an improvement of more than 70% was obtained in all the areas intervened between the first and second month of application of the test.
