The Double Bass and his melodic-harmonic approach to the traditional Ecuadorian Pasillo
El Contrabajo, su aporte melódico y armónico al Pasillo tradicional ecuatoriano
Abstract
This article exposes a study of cases related with the double-bass as main figure in the traditional Ecuadorian rhythm known as “Pasillo”. It shows common harmonic and melodic points, all of them related to the double-bass in several well-known and selected Pasillos, with the purpose get the knowledge regarding his typical structure and performance guide to play it, the Ecuadorian pasillo, coherently. This article is pointed to professional musician with interest in the Ecuadorian “Pasillo” his structure and features. Thus, they could add it to their own repertoire.
