Determinantes del consumo de energía renovable en los países Sudamericanos

El presente estudio tiene como objetivo determinar el efecto de los factores económicos, político-sociales y financieros sobre el consumo de energía renovable en las economías Sudamericanas desde el periodo 2000 a 2019. Metodológicamente, se constituye una investigación correlacional con alcance explicativo y se utiliza un enfoque cuantitativo-deductivo, para lo cual se construye un panel de datos con 10 países Sudamericanos y se aplica estimaciones de Mínimos Cuadrados Ordinarios agrupados, modelos de efectos fijos y aleatorios, así como Estimadores de Mínimos Cuadrados Generalizados Factibles y Errores Estándar Corregidos por Panel. Los principales resultados dejan evidencia que la apertura comercial, el índice de gobernanza y el desarrollo financiero tienen efecto positivo y estadísticamente significativo sobre el consumo de energía renovable. Mientras que, el Producto Interno Bruto (PIB) per cápita y el índice de capital humano tienen efecto negativo y estadísticamente significativo en el consumo de energía renovable. No obstante, la Inversión Extranjera Directa (IED) y el índice de esperanza de vida no presentaron significancia estadística en la explicación del consumo de energía renovable. Los hallazgos empíricos pueden ser tomados como referencia por los gobiernos para implementar políticas y tomar decisiones que favorezcan a aquellos potenciales impulsores del consumo de energía renovable.
