Fatores determinantes do consumo de energia renovável nos países sul-americanos

Resumo

O presente estudo tem como objetivo determinar o efeito dos fatores econômicos, político-sociais e financeiros sobre o consumo de energia renovável nas economias sul-americanas no período de 2000 a 2019. Metodologicamente, é construído um painel de dados com 10 países sul-americanos e são aplicadas estimativas de Mínimos Quadrados Ordinários (MCO) agrupados, modelos de efeitos fixos e aleatórios, bem como estimadores de Mínimos Quadrados Generalizados Viáveis (FGLS) e Erros Padrão Corrigidos por Painel (PCSE). Os principais resultados evidenciam que a abertura comercial, o índice de governança e o desenvolvimento financeiro têm um efeito positivo e estatisticamente significativo sobre o consumo de energia renovável. Por outro lado, o Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) per capita e o índice de capital humano têm um efeito negativo e estatisticamente significativo sobre o consumo de energia renovável. No entanto, o Investimento Estrangeiro Direto (IED) e o índice de expectativa de vida não apresentaram significância estatística na explicação do consumo de energia renovável. As descobertas empíricas podem ser tomadas como referência pelos governos para implementar políticas e tomar decisões que favoreçam os potenciais impulsionadores do consumo de energia renovável, contribuindo assim para o crescimento socioeconômico, a preservação do meio ambiente e a segurança energética.
