Abstract

The present study is oriented to academic tutoring, which is a process of comprehensive support to the student because it helps him or her improve academic performance, as well as develop critical thinking skills in problem solving. This research work, which is derived from an institutional research project, aims to analyze the evolution of effective academic tutoring, by academic periods, in times of the COVID/19 pandemic. This research included 4,281 records of effective tutoring that were carried out during four-semester academic periods (2020-S1, 2020-S2, 2021-S1, 2021-S2) by students of the majors of Basic Education, Computer Science and Pedagogy of National and Foreign Languages of an Ecuadorian university. The information analyzed was collected from the academic management system of the university under study. This university system presents the student with three items to measure the fulfillment of expectations, satisfaction and punctuality of the academic tutoring received in the majors of Basic Education, Computer Science and Pedagogy of National and Foreign Languages. The results showed variability in the evolution of effective academic tutoring in each major analyzed. A lower dispersion of data was noted in the Computer Science major with subjects with a higher frequency of effective academic tutoring.
