Abstract

This article addressed the analysis of the educational communication process in the eighth year of Basic Education at the Abdón Calderón Private Educational Unit in the Quevedo canton, Los Ríos province, Ecuador. The research aimed to analyze the educational communication process in the eighth year of basic education. It consisted of a mixed-method study, with an exploratory and descriptive scope. The intentionally selected sample was made up of 11 teachers and 34 students. The techniques used included a semi-structured interview directed at the teachers and a survey applied to the students. The results showed deficiencies in the theoretical and practical mastery of educational communication by the teaching staff. The authoritarian style predominated in the classroom, and deficiencies were observed in essential skills such as active listening, feedback, and respecting speaking turns. While some progress was noted in using an appropriate tone and in the willingness to engage in dialogue, students perceived communication as inefficient in several cases. It was concluded that it is essential to strengthen the teacher's communicative competence to foster a more participatory and empathetic learning environment. The study contributed to understanding classroom communication dynamics and suggests the need to design teaching strategies that promote effective educational communication.
