Gender Inequalities in the Ecuadorian Business Environment: A Bibliometric Analysis and Systematic Review

This study carries out an exhaustive analysis of the literature on gender inequalities in the business environment through a systematic and bibliometric review. The objective is to identify in international scientific literature, trends and areas of research on gender inequality, salary disparity, sexual harassment, labor policies, barriers to professional advancement and gender representation. Data from 282 relevant articles published in open access were analyzed, from January 2020 to May 2024, in the databases: Science Direct, Scopus and Emerald Insight, using the inclusion and exclusion validation system, and data description. according to the criteria of the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The results highlight the complexity of factors that contribute to the wage gap and gender underrepresentation in leadership roles, highlighting the influence of organizational culture and the sociocultural norms of each nation. Both structural and social obstacles were identified, especially in Asia, where these barriers hinder the advancement of women in organizations. Likewise, there is a prevalence of sexual harassment and the need to evaluate the effectiveness of gender equality policies. Trends such as compensation inequality in innovative Italian companies, sectoral differences in salary gaps in Spain, and the positive impact of gender diversity on business performance in various regions of the world, such as the United States, Jordan, Japan, were also observed. and Portugal.
