Statement on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Writing
This statement establishes guidelines for the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in scientific writing, excluding its application in data analysis and knowledge generation in research.
Responsible Use of AI
Authors may employ generative AI tools only to improve the quality and clarity of language, under human supervision. Results should be carefully reviewed and edited, as AI may generate inaccurate, incomplete, or biased content. AI cannot be credited as author or co-author of any manuscript.
AI Use Statement
The use of AI in the writing process should be stated in a specific section titled "Statement on the Use of Generative AI" at the end of the manuscript, before the references. This statement should include:
- Name and version of the tool used.
- Description of the use given, such as text generation, revision, translation, among others.
Example:
(2024). ChatGPT GPT-4o [Large language model]. https://chat.openai.com/chat
(2024). Claude 3.5 Sonnet [Large language model]. https://www.claude.ai/
In addition, the AI tool used should be cited in the reference section following the standardized format of the journal.
Restrictions and Responsibilities
- AI should not be used to generate or manipulate research data.
- Authors are responsible for the content of the manuscript and must verify the accuracy of the AI-generated text.
- The use of generative AI for the creation or alteration of images and figures is not allowed, except in specific research where its methodological use is properly documented.
Review Process and Consequences of Noncompliance
The editorial team will evaluate the declared use of AI in each manuscript. Failure to comply with this policy may result in:
- Rejection of the manuscript.
- Withdrawal of published articles.
- Future restrictions to publish in the journal.
This policy will be updated periodically to maintain its relevance and applicability. Its compliance is essential to ensure transparency and integrity in scientific publication.
