Ecuadorian public strategies facing the recommendations of the CEDAW. The rural parish of San Isidro on Manabí province as a case of study in the period from 2012 to 2015

Abstract

This present research develops an analysis of the recommendations and principles of CEDAW about violence against women, implemented on the public policies of the rural parish of San Isidro, Canton Sucre, Manabí province. The microsocial level was chosen for the analysis due to the researcher's sampling decisions and the accessibility of the field of study, as well as the interest of knowing how in this space the articulation of the policies and regulations that in the macrosocial framework are achieved in the country and are of a binding nature. Qualitative methodology was used to carry out the study with the use of the in-depth interview as the main research technique, as well as document analysis and qualitative content analysis. The research strategy followed the design of the study case. Some of the results revealed the lack of awareness by women and public officials of CEDAW, as well as the lack of knowledge about the instruments of the ecuadorian State that protect the rights of women to live away from violence and discrimination. In this research, gender violence was considered as a structural problem caused by the patriarchal society, taking into account the aforementioned considerations.
