Abstract

This article is a documented description, which exposes through the essay a regression to the origin, beginning and development of education in the Portoviejo canton. It develops in three great historical moments, the causalities and social and political moments that favorably influenced the educational process of the city. The bibliographic review places and shows, as a cultural contribution, a historical data that was unknown in the cultural and academic community of the city and that is, the appearance of the first school in the canton and its characteristics at that time. The essay contemplates the description of what happened in the educational field, making visible events that occurred in the current governments that had an impactand that also affected the educational system of Portoviejo.
