Abstract

The library has been the subject of constant research, but talking about the digital library in the health area has not only been an opportunity for professionals who are involved in scientific issues, this has also been an opportunity for institutions that adapt different systems and technologies in such centers. The contribution of ALFIN (information literacy), thus promoting the use of reliable bibliographic sources, strengthening information search and retrieval skills. The objective of this research is to show the importance of digital libraries in hospitals and their contribution to the hospital community. The method used in this research is descriptive where a bibliographic study on digital libraries was carried out. In this research it was found that compared to other Latin American countries in Portoviejo, Ecuador has a low index of hospital libraries, especially digital ones. Therefore, information literacy is considered important as a key point for the implementation of a digital library in hospitals to be a contribution to it.
