Abstract

The current research was carried out in the public library of the chon Canton. This study aims to analyze the importance having a librarian as a developer of reading agent. Traditionally, Ecuador is considered a country with few readers. The majority of people who do not read indicate that they have no int erest in doing so. For this reason, one of the actors involved in the promotion of reading is the librarian. This professional makes it through an active and inclusive space for learning. Surveys were conducted with the purpose of knowing the characteristi cs that must have a reading program 40 users of the public library of Chone. They pointed out that such programmes should encourage interest in books. In this way, the librarian becomes an agent of the developer of reading required in the province and the country.
