The role of the graduates of librarianship in Rocafuerte canton from ethical issues in information management

Abstract

The professional practice of librarianship undergoing a key period due to profound transformations that have been motivated by changes in social, cultural and, above all, technology. Therefore, the ethical is a transverse axis to the new challenges of a socie ty in constant renovation. It is essential to analyse the way in which society develops from new challenges and problems, in the same way to librarianship and  documentation practices. In the case of this work discusses the ethical issues in the management of information and the role that have met graduates of librarianship that belong to Rocafuerte canton and working in institutions of this town. The issues to which reference is made are related to five specific aspects: the incidence of ethics, principles of ethical librarian, attitudes in the handling of the information, prospects for librarian ethics and the "obligations" of the librarian. In this context, professional needs required by society should be tested to verify the theoretical with the reality.
