Abstract

The present paper aims to refer to the current role of the librarian / librarian regarding the need for penness to new and varied ways of collecting, organizing and promoting information, also to review, that need to incur training processes for an adequate management of sources Of information in digital format, due to the fact that ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) are strategic ally in the bibliographical work to provide an adequate information service. The subject is approached with a methodology of qualitative research, precisely with personnel immersed in the biliothecological task that participates through interviews and surveys applied to the users of information to make known the feeling and experience in the development of the work of the staff working in the library, From the perspective of those who offer the service and those who receive it. With the data obtained it can be determined that the profile of the personnel working in libraries and information centers, those who do it because they have several years dedicated to the work as librarian or those who have aprofessional training as librarians, must be active, but The most interesting thing that can be highlighted from the information collected is that they are aware of this demand for innovation, constant improvement and continuous training, which is necessary due to the demands of information users who need to inquire, select, define And obtain information in various formats which must be updated and contrasted. Another requirement that the librarian / librarian needs to have is a broad general culture, commitment and social responsibility, because his role is not only focused on meeting information requirements, he must also carry out orientation activities for users through information literacy (ALFIN), as part of a successful execution of the tasks entrusted to them as professionals in the organization and management of information.
