Digital preservation policy
La Técnica: Revista de las Agrociencias is committed to the preservation of its digital archives through a redundancy system that guarantees their long-term access and availability.
The preservation system is based on the use of persistent digital identifiers (DOIs), which are assigned to each published article. The DOIs are managed by the Crossref platform, which offers a network of servers distributed worldwide. This ensures that La Técnica articles are accessible even in the event that the journal's server is affected by a disaster or service interruption.
In addition to the Crossref platform, La Técnica also participates in the European openAIRE program, which provides a storage and distribution infrastructure for research data. This allows the journal's articles to be indexed in international databases, which facilitates their discovery by the scientific community.
The entire collection of La Técnica is available online through the OJS file manager, which can be found at the following link: https://revistas.utm.edu.ec/index.php/latecnica/issue/archive.
Once published, authors of La Técnica articles are authorized to save them in institutional, thematic repositories or personal web pages. This allows authors to share their work with a wider audience and to use it for educational, research or dissemination purposes.
La Técnica: Revista de las Agrociencias has a digital preservation policy of making backup copies of all its archives in the short, medium and long term.
Short Term
Periodic backups are made on an external SSD hard drive and in the Google Drive cloud, which allows making backup copies of all the journal's files.
Medium Term
From the cPanel of the hosting service, backups are made of the integrity of the OJS system and of the journal content.
Long Term
The journal is stored in the institutional repository of the Universidad Tecnica de Manabí and in the international repository Crossref.
The journal content is automatically stored in the following digital preservation systems:
PKP Preservation Network (PKP Preservation Network) which provides free preservation services for any OJS journal that meets the basic criteria.
LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) which guarantees the journal a permanent and secure archive. LOCKSS is an open source program developed by the Stanford University Library that allows libraries to preserve selected web journals by regularly searching registered journals to collect new published content and archive it.

CLOCKSS Open Journal Systems also supports CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) to ensure a permanent and secure archive for the journal. CLOCKSS is based on the open source LOCKSS software developed at Stanford University Library, which allows libraries to preserve chosen web journals by regularly checking registered journal websites for newly published content and archiving it.
