Abstract

The aging of the world's population has generated the need to strengthen continuing education in geriatrics to ensure comprehensive and quality care for older adults. This study follows the PRISMA method to conduct a systematic review of advances in geriatric education and its impact on clinical practice. 757 records were identified in academic databases, from which 60 relevant studies were selected. The results highlight that geriatric training programs, such as GWEPs and the 4M geriatric model, have improved professional competence and quality of care. In addition, innovative educational strategies, such as telemedicine and interactive courses, have proven effective. However, challenges persist in accessibility to these programs, especially in rural areas. It is concluded that the inclusion of digital technologies and inter-institutional collaboration are key to strengthening geriatric training and improving care for older adults.
