Study of usability and accessibility of the websites of the Technical University of Manabí

Websites have become a relevant point in education, it is essential that all websites comply with web accessibility standards, the study of usability and accessibility of the websites of the Technical University of Manabi, consisted of the evaluation and analysis of websites and web systems UTM, SGA, SPCA, E-VIRTUAL and ONLINE, through the TAW and FAE tools. The methodology was supported by the compilation of the state of the art on web usability and accessibility based on a quantitative analysis method in the collection of information, applying the WCAG 2.0 standard with an AA level of conformity based on the principles: Perceptible, Operable, Compressible and Robust, in the sum of both tools giving as a result that the Perceptible contained 127 errors being the one in which more failures occurred, followed by the operable with 51 problems, in the compressible there were 17 inconsistencies and finally the robust inhabited by 10 drawbacks. The results obtained with the TAW tool show that 177 errors were found within the principles, guidelines and criteria, while the FAE tool showed a total of 28 inconsistencies. For the interpretation of the results, they are detailed in tables and statistical graphs, reflecting the type of problem existing in each of them, also giving a possible solution to the problem raised. The contribution of this research was to provide possible solutions to non-visible errors in a web site.
