Author Guidelines

Submission Policies:

RECUS accepts original experimental and theoretical research articles in Spanish and English to facilitate international projection. Authors can register directly on the platform at http://revistas.utm.edu.ec/index.php/Recus and submit their contributions following the editorial norms established by the journal. If the manuscript is the result of a research project, this information should be included in the footer. For any clarification, contact Blanca Victoria Zirufo Briones, general editor of the journal, or via the institutional email of the journal: recus@utm.edu.ec.

Section Policies:

RECUS evaluates scientific content or opinion articles that conduct rigorous and interesting analyses. The catalog also includes viewpoints or social and behavioral positions of the scientific community on common interest scientific topics for researchers and professionals. The flexibility of the electronic publication allows for varying page numbers, but authors are recommended to adhere to a maximum of 15 pages. The journal accepts up to ten elements (figures, photos, diagrams, tables, or charts), which should substitute or complement text, not duplicate it.

Over 60% of the articles published in the journal should result from original and unpublished research within the scientific and academic field, without restrictions for archiving and consultation as reference literature for future research.

RECUS follows the classification given by the American Psychological Association (APA) seventh edition for considering article types:

Empirical Studies or Original Scientific Articles:

These articles are the highest priority for publication in RECUS. They refer to authentic and original investigative reports, including secondary analyses that verify hypotheses and generate new diverse analyses not considered in previous research or reports.

Theoretical Articles:

Based on existing research literature, these studies aim to advance a theory. Unlike literature reviews, they present empirical information related to the theory and seek to expand and refine theoretical constructs.

Methodological Articles:

These articles introduce new methodologies or modifications of existing research methods, allowing researchers to apply new approaches and compare methods.

Case Studies:

Reports from investigations involving individuals, groups, populations, or communities, illustrating observed problems and potential solutions, promoting new research interests.

Historical Articles:

Essays covering notes, reviews, and other historical types.

Manuscript Evaluation Process:

Preliminary Evaluation:

Authors must register on the platform. The editor checks for plagiarism and verifies that the article has not been previously published. Contributions are reviewed by the Editorial Board to ensure they align with the journal's lines and editorial norms. Accepted articles proceed to section editor and general editor review. External support is requested if necessary. Authors are informed of the evaluation result, and accepted articles enter the anonymous peer-review process.

Peer Review:

Accepted articles undergo a double-blind peer review by national or international experts. If there are conflicting reviews, a third reviewer is consulted. The Editorial Board makes the final decision based on reviewer feedback.

Publication Frequency:

RECUS is published quarterly (January-April, May-August, September-December) in a continuous publication format.

Open Access Policy:

RECUS is an open-access journal under the Creative Commons Ecuador 4.0 license, allowing unrestricted access to its contents. No fees are charged for publication.

Archiving:

RECUS uses the LOCKSS system for document storage and restoration. CLOCKSS is also utilized for distribution to participating libraries.

Anti-Plagiarism System:

RECUS uses Compilatio to check the originality of contributions.

Code of Ethics:

RECUS adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) standards and the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA) principles.
