Abstract

The current tourist destination "sun and beach", is the most welcome in the Manabi province by local, national and foreign tourists; so that the number of foreign tourists who visit it increases, it is necessary to implement improvements in basic services (hotel, security, recreation, shops and restaurants), and in the natural resources that are part of this ecosystem (rivers and waterfalls), resources prioritized by the government and the community, because they enhance local tourism development in each of these sectors. There are causes that have affected the ecosystem and tourism in the locality in general, such as environmental pollution caused by the irresponsibility of some citizens and entities, and the sale of food products on beaches, rivers and waterfalls. In this work, the reality of tourism in the Manabi province was analyzed, demonstrating the need to stimulate its economy, by launching activities that allow, direct it to a local community development, achieve sustainability, take care of natural tourism areas, and exploit resources in a planned manner, committed to society and the environment. This will allow it to be part of the territorial development, strengthen its economic, social and cultural dynamics, and facilitate the articulation of each component of the tourism system. A reflection was also made on the importance of improving tourism, as a source of work and income for the inhabitants of the place where these institutions and resources belong.
