Stereotypes of gender and the secretarial work in public institutions

Today, the secondments of gender continue being undisputed. Masculinity and femininity with its implications govern, even, daily life, social relations and the world economy, including work. This qualitative methodology research examines the influence of gender stereotypes on the performance of a highly feminized profession. Specifically and by the use of the interview, is determines that the gender still exercising a strong influence in the exercise of the area secretarial since, as is tradition, the women are who mostly play this occupation. However, the information reveals that the slight presence male responds to this professional of secretariat has with training in other fields that you allow exercise a work specialized. I.e., combines studies in law, engineering and economy with the knowledge and the skills own of the area secretarial. This has allowed him access to a professional field that had been outside in the last century. It can be said that there is a tendency of male presence with studies closely related to the nature of the public institution in which work and which the secretarial functions appear as complementary in the sector.
