Abstract

This research aims to establish the incidence of competitive anxiety that athletes adapted from the Boccias Ecuador Club go through, taking as a starting point the lack of psychological preparation within the training, in this case, it is essential to determine an analysis around this reality since they are athletes with cerebral palsy who remain active in the competitive field and thus reached instances of paralympic sport. The objective is to carry out an exploratory study because it is the first in the country, with the application of a field research. As a data collection tool, the CSAI-2R psychometric questionnaire on precompetitive anxiety was used in its translation and adaptation into Spanish, with a four-pronged Likert scale, the same one that was collected under the consent of the legal representatives of the athletes. The quantitative analysis was executed through the program SPSS.22, where the parameters that were taken into consideration were anxiety factors such as cognitive anxiety, sense somatic anxiety, and physical somatic anxiety, which showed as a result that these factors do not affect the performance of athletes adapted from boccia in competitive stage, something very positive in sports preparation, however, it is of high relevance to take into account the characteristics of its disability classification, its form of perception of this condition of the body that, in fact, it can be very different from that adopted by another type of athlete, which translates into a possible advantage at the time of handling anxiety in competitions that mark the advancement of their sports career and with it allows them optimal competitive performance.
