Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The theme of the manuscript falls within Law realm.
  • Abstracts must have a minimum of 200 words or 1,000 characters with spaces and must include the objectives of the study and the results found.
  • The manuscript is in editable format (MS Word, Open Office, etc.); in Times New Roman font, font size 12 pt.; the line spacing must have a space and a half, with the upper, lower, left and right margins of 2.5 cm.; and have an extension of no more than 20 pages.
  • Manuscripts must be original and unpublished, and are not being evaluated at the same time as their application in another journal or congress, otherwise it is indicated in "Comments to the Editor".
  • The content of the contributions and the cited references respond to the APA standards in their 7th. edition according to the Rules for Author of the magazine.
  • The signing authors declare that they contributed to the conception, structuring and preparation of the manuscript; as well as having participated in any stage and process of consolidation of the manuscript (bibliographic research, data collection, interpretation of the results, writing and review).
  • If the text includes graphics, figures, images and maps, they must be in .JPG or .PNG formats at a resolution greater than 500 dpi. Attach the media files as companion files after attaching the manuscript in step #2 "Upload Submission".
  • The names of the authors are included in the following order: surnames and first names, institutional affiliation, ORCID and (eg 0000-0001-1234-5678) and email (institutional preferably) and are added in a separate document to the manuscript.

Author Guidelines

1. Formal and Content Requirements

Manuscripts submitted must be:

  • Original.

  • Unpublished.

  • Not under evaluation simultaneously by any other journal.
    Manuscript submissions to Letras (Lima) must be exclusive and not under review at the same time by another journal.

Authorship Contribution
All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the conception, structure, and composition of the manuscript, as well as have participated in any stage or process of the consolidation of the manuscript (design conception, literature review, data collection, results interpretation, drafting, and final revision).

Peer Review
All submitted manuscripts are evaluated under a double-blind system by at least two experts external to UTM, selected from national and international reviewers according to the relevant specialty. Authors have the option to suggest potential reviewers, whose candidacies will be considered at the discretion of the editorial committee. For works with preliminary versions (preprints), differentiated review protocols will be implemented prior to publication.

Formatting Guidelines
Manuscripts must be submitted in Word for Windows; use Times New Roman font, 12 pt size, with 1.5 line spacing. Margins should be set at 2.5 cm (top, bottom, left, and right). Manuscripts should not exceed 20 pages as per the indicated format.
If the text includes graphs, figures, images, or maps, these must be in jpg or png formats at a resolution higher than 500 dpi and submitted as supplementary files, separate from the main manuscript.
The manuscripts should follow this structure:

  • Article title in Spanish and English, concise and clear, maximum of 20 words.

  • Abstracts in Spanish and English (placed after each summary); minimum of 250 words or 1,000 characters with spaces, including the study objectives and findings.

  • Keywords in both Spanish and English, separated by semicolons; minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6. Keywords should not duplicate words in the article title.

  • The authors must declare the sources of funding and any potential conflicts of interest.

  • The texts must not include any information that allows author identification. Personal data should also be removed from the file metadata. For this, we recommend following this Microsoft Office video.

  • In a separate document, the author must provide:

    • Full name

    • Institutional affiliation, city and country (indicate if affiliation may change in the coming months)

    • Institutional email

    • ORCID
      This document should be submitted as a supplementary file alongside the manuscript via the online submission system. Failure to comply with these formal aspects may result in immediate rejection.

Manuscript Content Structure

  • Title (in Spanish and English)

  • Authors (affiliation and ORCID)

  • Abstract and keywords (in Spanish and English)

  • Introduction, background, and objectives

  • Methods, materials used, and sources

  • Development (optional)

  • Results and discussion

  • Conclusions

  • References
    Footnotes should not be placed at the bottom of the page but as endnotes before the bibliography.
    References should correspond to explicit citations in the text and follow APA (American Psychological Association, 7th edition) style.
    Declaration of authorship contribution according to CRediT.

2. Journal Sections

The journal Nullius accepts manuscripts for the following sections:

Studies
This section includes research articles not exceeding 20 pages and that fall under:

  • Research articles

  • Review articles (state of the art)

  • Historical-bibliographical articles

  • Theoretical or conceptual articles

Notes
This section includes manuscripts under 12 pages, presenting practical applications, case studies, successful experiences, disciplinary approaches, or theoretical treatments of specific issues.

  • Analytical-descriptive articles

  • Methodological and exploratory articles

  • Case study articles

Journal Review
This section comprises evaluations or critical reviews of recent issues published by academic journals, nationally or internationally, in the field of humanities. Reviews must not exceed three pages.

Book Reviews
Critical reviews and commentaries on books published within the last two years. Reviews should be informative regarding the content of the book. Recommendations suggest placing objections or criticisms toward the end. Not to exceed three pages.

3. Citation and Bibliographic Reference Guidelines

In-text citations and references must adhere to APA (American Psychological Association, 7th edition) style. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all citations are appropriately referenced at the end of the text.

In-text references:

  • For indirect or paraphrased citations: main surname, year of publication, e.g., (Dolezel, 1999).

  • For direct quotations: main surname, year, and page, e.g., (Dolezel, 1999, p. 28).

  • For works with multiple authors: (Gamarra, Uceda, & Gianella, 2011) or (Gamarra, Uceda, & Gianella, 2011, p. 123), as relevant.

  • Authors may also be mentioned in the narrative: Gamarra, Uceda, and Gianella (2011) or Gamarra, Uceda, and Gianella (2011, p. 123).

  • If the same author has several references in the same year, differentiate alphanumerically: (2006), (2006a), (2006b), etc., e.g., (Floridi, 2006), (Floridi, 2006a).

4. Publication Ethics

Nullius adheres to the ethical standards required for researchers, peer reviewers, and scholarly writing. Specifically, the journal requires all authors to comply with the ethical standards prescribed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

5. Authenticity

All submitted manuscripts will be checked using anti-plagiarism software to determine authenticity (similarity) before being sent for peer review.

6. Submission Guidelines

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically via the journal’s online submission system, available here: Submissions | NULLIUS: Critical Thought Journal in Law. The journal may occasionally publish calls for papers with specific deadlines; however, submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
