Descripción: La obtención de larvas vitelinas de buena calidad en cautiverio es parte del éxito de la producción controlada del huayaipe. Seriola rivoliana es una especie potencial para la acuicultura ecuatoriana gracias a sus características ventajosas como buena calidad de la carne, fácil adaptabilidad a cautiverio, rápido crecimiento y alto valor comercial. El huayaipe es una especie gonocórica que desova espontáneamente en cautiverio de forma parcial. El fruto de varios años de investigación ha permitido la obtención continua de desoves viables de esta especie bajo condiciones controladas en el laboratorio de Piscicultura del Centro Nacional de Acuicultura e Investigaciones Marinas (CENAIM-ESPOL). Este es un paso más hacia el desarrollo de la maricultura en el país. Esta fotografía fue tomada el 17 de mayo del 2018 en un microscopio óptico (4x) en el laboratorio de Piscicultura de CENAIM-ESPOL, tras la obtención de un desove viable seleccionado para la fase de larvicultura.

Ornamental aquaculture is an industry that is little visible in Central America, but with great development potential to become a source of development to improve the quality of life of people in rural areas. The photograph demonstrates the research and development of ornamental species such as Nimbochromis venustus, where the ideal oral weaning time was evaluated to obtain greater survival, in addition to preparing the females in order to obtain more reproductions throughout the year.

This simple but very significant image shows an artisanal fisherman from the central coast of Chile, who spent his life at sea searching for his livelihood, but now puts his energies, hopes and future in seaweed aquaculture. This record shows a real and successful case of technology transfer, where the tools have been given to incorporate small-scale aquaculture as a productive activity that promotes the transition from extraction to production.

The image shows an unfertilized oocyte of Dormitator latifrons, obtained by induction of spawning from broodstock kept at the School of Aquaculture and Fisheries-UTM. Its appearance is rounded with several fat globules next to the yolk and numerous filaments forming a tuft that allows the egg to attach.
