Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between resilience and performance among elite boxers affiliated with the Ecuadorian Boxing Federation. The primary objective is to examine how resilience levels impact sports performance and explore the challenges faced by athletes in this context. A quantitative and descriptive research approach was adopted, involving a sample of 32 high-performance boxers aged between 19 and 34. Resilience levels were assessed using the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale Test, supplemented by a structured survey. The analysis revealed a significant association between the boxers' performance and their resilience levels, with physical, economic, and social factors influencing their overall performance. The identified levels of resilience enabled the athletes to effectively navigate adverse situations in their sports careers, contributing to their overall well-being and future endeavors. These findings underscore the positive correlation between resilience and performance among elite boxers, emphasizing the importance of fostering resilience skills to overcome challenges and adversity in the realm of competitive boxing. Further research is warranted to explore additional factors and interventions that can further enhance resilience in elite boxers and optimize their athletic performance.
