Wireless sensor networks are based on devices that are interconnected with each other, capable of obtaining information from their environment; these are built with several technologies, among them, we find Zigbee as a short distance communication protocol used in wireless network applications, it handles different configurations on star, tree and mesh network topologies, supporting a large number of sensors; The objective of this research is to analyze the performance of the wireless sensor network comparing topologies with different numbers of nodes; the methodology used was performed on a simulation environment using the OPNET tool; creating scenarios to measure the latency in the application layer on topologies with different numbers of nodes. As a result, it was determined that the more nodes are increased within the wireless sensor network, the better the performance of the mesh topology.
