Open access policy

1. Open Access Declaration

PSIDIAL: Psicología y Diálogo de Saberes, in accordance with its mission to democratize scientific knowledge generated by the Universidad Técnica de Manabí and its international collaborators, defines itself as a Diamond Open Access journal.

We formally adhere to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI, 2002) definition. This implies that all content published in PSIDIAL is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.

We consider psychological and social knowledge to be a public good. Eliminating paywalls accelerates the pace of scientific discovery, encourages innovation, and enriches research by making results available to everyone, from scholars to practitioners and the general public.

2. Licensing: Creative Commons (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)

To protect the rights of authors and foster the ethical exchange of knowledge, all articles published in PSIDIAL are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license.

Under the terms of this license, the academic community and the general public are free to:

  • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material.

Mandatory conditions for use:

  1. Attribution (BY): Appropriate credit must be given to the original author and PSIDIAL, a link to the license must be provided, and it must be indicated if changes were made.

  2. NonCommercial (NC): The material may not be used for commercial purposes. This protects academic work from profit-driven appropriation by third parties.

  3. ShareAlike (SA): If a user remixes, transforms, or builds upon the material, they must distribute their contributions under the same license as the original. This ensures that derivative knowledge always remains in the domain of open access.

3. Copyright and Publication Rights

PSIDIAL respects the intellectual property of its researchers. Consequently, the following is established:

  • Rights Retention: Authors retain full copyright and publication rights without restrictions. The author remains the owner of their work.

  • Publication License: By submitting a manuscript, authors grant PSIDIAL and the Universidad Técnica de Manabí the non-exclusive right of first publication. Likewise, they authorize the journal to disseminate the article under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license mentioned above.

  • Additional Agreements: Since authors retain their rights, they are free to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work, with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.

4. Article Processing Charges (APC) Policy

To ensure equity and inclusion in scientific publishing:

  • PSIDIAL does NOT apply Article Processing Charges (APCs).

  • PSIDIAL does NOT apply Submission Fees.

All costs related to editorial management, peer review, copyediting, layout, and web hosting are covered by the Universidad Técnica de Manabí as part of its social and academic commitment.

5. Self-Archiving and Repositories Policy (Sherpa Romeo)

PSIDIAL actively encourages authors to disseminate their research to maximize its impact and citation. Self-archiving is permitted under the following conditions:

  • Permitted Versions: Authors are allowed to deposit the Publisher's Version (PDF/Version of Record), as well as the Post-print (Accepted Manuscript after peer review).

  • Location: Institutional repositories, thematic repositories, academic social networks, and personal websites.

  • Timing: Self-archiving can be performed immediately after publication on the journal's website. There is no embargo period.

  • Requirement: When self-archiving, the author must include the full bibliographic reference and, preferably, the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) link directing to the original article on the PSIDIAL portal.

6. Interoperability

The journal incorporates the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interoperability protocol. This allows our content to be automatically harvested by other distribution systems and international databases, ensuring maximum digital visibility for authors.
