Micromachismo and gender perspectives: a comparative analysis of attitudes between men and women.

Abstract

Micromachismo refers to subtle but deep-rooted attitudes and behaviors that reinforce gender roles and perpetuate inequalities, such as condescending comments, minimizing female opinion, or assigning household chores based on gender. The problem is that, although they are small actions, they contribute to maintaining unequal power structures between men and women. The objective of this article is to compare the attitudes of men and women towards micromachismo. The research design is non-experimental, it focuses on the observation and measurement of variables as they occur naturally, without deliberately manipulating any conditions. It is with a quantitative approach since it is based on the collection and analysis of numerical data. The research is descriptive and correlational in scope, we can also mention that the research is transectional or transversal since it collects data at a single moment, that is, at a single time. Regarding the theoretical method, an analysis-synthesis approach is used. Additionally, an inductive-deductive approach is used, which involves the development of hypotheses or theories based on observation and collection of information. Regarding the empirical method, an exhaustive bibliographic consultation was carried out to collect relevant information from reliable and updated sources. In general, there is a greater tendency for men to accept certain levels of micro-machismo compared to women, although in all the types analyzed, the majority of both groups agree that it is never adequate. These discrepancies reflect differences in the perception and tolerance towards these behaviors between men and women.
