Abstract

User-Centered Design has become a key methodological approach in the development of web applications, as it fosters the active participation of users throughout the entire design cycle. Aiming to analyze the impact of this design on user experience in web applications, this systematic review examines studies conducted between 2021 and 2025, following the standardized sampling for systematic literature reviews methodology. The review process was organized into four phases: (1) eligibility criteria, (2) literature search, (3) abstract-based screening, and (4) full‐text reading. Initially, specific search, content, and exclusion criteria were established, followed by a systematic literature search across scientific databases using defined search terms and query strings. The abstracts of the retrieved studies were assessed based on three key questions to determine their pertinence and relevance to the research objective. Finally, 20 articles that met all established criteria were selected, and their full content was analyzed, with the relevant information from each study organized into a structured table. The results reveal a notable improvement in user experience following the implementation of user-centered design, with the development of more intuitive, efficient, and accessible interfaces tailored to users’ expectations and needs. Furthermore, the findings reinforce the benefits of this approach in creating more sustainable, people-centered web applications.
