The purpose of this research work is to evaluate the feasibility of a low-cost system for estimating the behavior of vehicular traffic through the identification of Wi-Fi devices on board vehicles. It is intended that this work has a projection that can be implemented at the city level if the expected results are achieved, due to the low costs in relation to other methods commonly used in the different cities of Ecuador. For this purpose, the Technical University of Manabí was established as an evaluation scenario, in which a system for monitoring the entry and exit of mobile devices via WiFi was deployed. This system allowed to capture information that determined the possibility of using this technique for the estimation of mobility in university access. In this work, a set of tests was carried out, which cannot be considered strictly as conclusive, however, in general, correspondence can be seen in the behavior of staff entries and exits of the Technical University of Manabí.
